Wild Elderberry Jelly
In early fall we drive the back roads of Connecticut collecting the shinny blue/black wild elderberries to make this hard to find old fashion flavor. The resulting jelly is dark purple almost black and has a tart and slightly earthly taste. Some say it is a little like a homemade grape jelly or a little like a black currant jelly. Either way we love the flavor with biscuits or scones.
